All-Around Almond Cake

Recipe Description

Recipe Ingredients

2 ¼ cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
12 ounce can almond filling
¼ cup milk

Instructions

Grease bottom of 9 or 10 inch tube pan. Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Cream butter in large mixing bowl. Gradually add sugar; cream till light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Blend in almond filling. At low speed, add half the dry ingredients, then add milk and then the rest of the dry ingredients. Blend well and pour into pan. Bake at 350° 45 to 50 minutes until cake springs back when touched lightly. Do not invert. Cool. Serve plain or frost with Almond Glaze, allowing to drip down sides. Decorate with sliced almonds. Almond Glaze Add 2 to 3 tablespoons cream to 1 cup sifted confectioners’ sugar until consistency of a glaze. Stir in ¼ teaspoon almond extract.
