Passover is a significant Jewish holiday that commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery. During this time, many traditional foods are restricted, making it a challenge to come up with exciting dishes. However, with a bit of creativity, you can still enjoy delicious meals during Passover. One such idea is matzo pizza, a simple yet tasty alternative to regular pizza. This unleavened version replaces the dough with matzo, a type of cracker that is permissible during Passover. Not only is it easy to make, but it’s also a great way to use up leftover ingredients from your pantry. Here’s how you can make your own matzo pizza.
Matzo Pizza Recipe:
Ingredients:
2 sheets of matzo
1/4 cup of tomato sauce
1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup of sliced vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, onions, mushrooms)
1 tbsp of olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Brush the top of each matzo sheet with olive oil.
Spread tomato sauce over the oiled matzo sheets, leaving a small border around the edge.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the tomato sauce.
Add sliced vegetables on top of the cheese, distributing them evenly.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Place the matzo pizzas on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Enjoy your delicious and Passover-friendly matzo pizza!
